Cedar (Virginian)
Essential OilJuniperus virginiana
Origin: Eastern North America, primarily United States
About
Virginian Cedarwood essential oil is a warm, slightly sweet, balsamic oil with a drier, more pencil-shaving character compared to its Atlas counterpart. It is clear to pale yellow in colour and blends well into massage oils for grounding, calming treatments. It is particularly valued in massage for respiratory support, stress relief, and skin conditioning work.
Cedar (Virginian), also known as Eastern Red Cedar, has been used by Native American peoples for centuries in purification ceremonies, as a medicinal remedy, and for its insect-repelling properties. Early European settlers adopted its use for chest complaints and skin conditions. Its aromatic wood and oil have long been valued in perfumery and traditional medicine throughout North America.
