Jasmine Absolute
Essential OilJasminum grandiflorum / Jasminum officinale
Origin: Egypt, India, France
About
A rich, intensely floral absolute (not a steam-distilled oil) with one of the most complex aromatic profiles in perfumery. It has documented euphoric and antidepressant properties and is traditionally considered an aphrodisiac. Due to high cost, it is used in small proportions.
Known as the "king of flowers" in contrast to rose's "queen," jasmine has been central to perfumery and ceremonial practice across Asia, the Middle East, and Mediterranean cultures for thousands of years. Indian jasmine cultivation for religious and aromatic use predates recorded history.
